September 30th is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day. It is a day for reflection and reconciliation to honour those who have been impacted by Canada’s residential school system. Join us for a drop-in event on September 29th to learn more about this important campaign to raise awareness of residential schools and find out how you can engage in community events around Truth and Reconciliation.

What is Orange Shirt Day?

Join FIC ACT and FIC staff for a drop-in event for Orange Shirt Day: Journey Towards Truth and Reconciliation. Stop by our interactive table to learn more about First Nations peoples and communities and about the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day, why it is important and why we should care.

Then, drop into Room 2100 to watch a short film about Orange Shirt Day to learn more about Phyllis Webstad and the importance of this day and the Orange Shirt Day campaign. There will also be stations to learn about contemporary indigenous art and culture, and upcoming events in the community to engage and learn more about first nations communities.

Find our interactive table at FIC 2nd Floor beside RM 2100 from 12:30-1:30pm.

There’s also lots going on throughout the week at SFU, so check out more events surrounding this important topic and join the learning journey towards truth and reconciliation.
